Have you ever been afraid and felt fear? If you are a human being, you know how it feels like to be scared. There is a difference between healthy fear and unhealthy fear. Healthy fear protects your life, so you dont do anything stupid like walking into oncoming traffic or sticking your fingers into an electrical outlet. Unhealthy fear keeps your body in a constant state of fight or flight mode, always stressed, never able to enjoy life because your mind focuses on the worst case scenario in every situation. We should appreciate the fears that protect us from accidentally killing ourselves, but we should never accept the unhealthy fear.
1.John 4:18 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
The Bible says in 1.John 4:18 fear has to do with punishment. Fear makes you look both ways before crossing the road and fear makes you decide to pay for your groceries. When fear reminds you of the consequences of not looking both ways before crossing the street, and the effects of not paying for your groceries, it is a healthy fear that protects you. This is the kind of fear we should appreciate and be thankful for.
